Anonymous email accounts and forwarders are used by people
who do not want to reveal their identity or email address.
Some sites provide free anonymous mail services. Mail sent
from such websites is forwarded to at least one or two mail
forwarders so the recipient cannot trace the sender.
Mail forwarders provide permanent mail addresses for people
who may change their internet service provider (ISP). By opening
an account, mail sent to them care of the forwarder is sent on
to their current ISP. Whenever they change their ISP, they notify
the forwarder service to re-direct their mail.
Mail forwarders can also serve as an anonymous mail account
as the receiver of mail sent by a forwarder user will be unaware
of where the mail came from.
(Note that the ISP and experienced Net users can still find
out where the mail came from unless the initial mail was sent
via a remailer. Therefore, mail forwarding is useful only to
individuals who have a website and that email address serves
as an address by which visitors can email the site owner.
